An Introduction

I am a Disabled Combat Veteran from Beirut 1983. I was not injured in the bombing but my disability comes from the rescue and recovery efforts after the bombing of October 23rd 1983. Yes I am PTSD Veteran who has just recently been able to speak about that day. But I am not here to talk about Beirut or myself I am here to speak about the current Presidential Campaign and the candidates.

I would like to start with the one most obvious for me to stand behind, John McCain. Senators McCain's' stand on foreign policy is NOT what the Dem's would have you believe. I do not feel he is just a rubber stamp of George W Bush. If the Senators views are close it is because the need for a strong presence in the world is as important now as it was 60 years ago. To brush off Iran as just another country to negotiate will be Obama's biggest mistake during this campaign.

Iran has been a thorn in the side of U.S. politics since the 70's and if  POTUS sits down with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad then we elevate this ruthless supporter of terror to the level of legitimate nations around the world. Iran has had a policy of destroying peace since 1979 and unless we force them to change that will continue.

I do not think at this time we will need to go to war with Iran but to take that off the table is foolish. As long as we are in Iraq and Afghanistan they will feel pressure from both sides and this is a bargaining tool we MUST keep in place.

As for Senator McCains views on immigration I am not totally behind him on this but it is something we have to look at. No one should ever agree with every view a candidate has. I always felt that if you believe in all of a politicians rhetoric then you are following blindly and that is as dangerous as voting just because you share Race, Religion or home state with the politician.

Remember read, watch and listen to all you can and then formulate your opinions. Never accept one point of view and do not be afraid to challenge the candidate of your choosing on those views that you don't agree with.

Tomorrow I will look at Senator Clinton and her views.
